CHIROPRACTIC & PHYSICAL THERAPY
Chiropractic Care is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on the manipulation of musculoskeletal systems. Metro Physical Medicine provides manual therapy, massage therapy, cervical manipulations, spinal adjustments, and exercise. We have a board of trained Chiropractors who provide all services hands-on approach.
Spinal and extremity manipulation
More commonly referred to as an “adjustment,” spinal manipulation is performed to improve joint function and reduce pain. Extremity manipulation is focused on the extremity joints to improve their function and reduce pain.
Myofascial release techniques (Active Release Technique, Graston Technique)
These techniques are soft tissue methods that focus on relieving tissue tension by removing fibrosis/adhesions that can develop from overload and repetitive use. They are also effective in detecting and treating scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function.
Ultrasound
Using sound waves that travel deep into the tissue, ultrasound has a variety of benefits, including:
- Relaxing the muscles and increasing range of motion
- Breaking up spastic tissues, adhesions, trigger points, scar tissue, or calcium deposits
- Stimulating tissue regeneration and accelerating soft tissue repair
- Improving circulation, which helps the healing process
- Decreasing pain and swelling
Electrical muscle stimulation & transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation
(TENS) – TENS is the use of electric current to stimulate the nerves, thereby providing pain relief, increased circulation, and healing. TENS is a non-invasive treatment, with the current being supplied through electrodes applied to the skin.
Therapeutic exercise
The goal of therapeutic exercise is to return an injured person to a pain-free, fully functioning state. Therapeutic exercise is a range of physical activities that helps restore and build physical strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and stability.
Traction/decompression therapy
Spinal decompression therapy stretches the spine, using a traction table or similar device, with the goal of relieving back and/or leg pain. This process pulls the herniated or bulging disc material back into the disc and promotes the passage of healing nutrients into the disc, thereby creating a better healing environment.
Kinesio-tape bracing
Kinesiology tape can treat a wide variety of athletic injuries, inflammatory conditions, and physical disorders. Almost identical to human skin in both thickness and elasticity, kinesio-tape can be worn without binding, constricting, or restriction of your movement.
Thermotherapy and cryotherapy
Thermotherapy (heat) and cryotherapy (ice) are both useful tools in healing and pain management. Cryotherapy inhibits inflammation and helps break the pain spasm cycle. Thermotherapy increases circulation, which creates an influx of oxygen and nutrients to injured tissues, promoting healing.
Patient education tutorials
We want our patients to understand their bodies and what it takes to stay healthy. We empower our patients with education and tutorials that help them lead fuller, healthier lives.
At-home exercise programs
Physical therapy is more than what takes place in the office. We create at-home exercise programs for patients to reinforce the therapy program and speed the recovery process.
